What is your name and what do you write?
S. Jackson Rivera and Contemporary Romance.
When did you start writing, and what got you into it?
I hit publish on my first book December 2013 after taking 4 years to get that baby right. It all started with a dream.
Where are you originally from? Is there anything interesting about your hometown?
I grew up on a ranch in Eastern Oregon. It was a great way for a kid to grow up, horseback riding every day, driving by 12 yrs old, herding cattle. I miss it sometimes.
Tell us about your latest/upcoming release.
Peace in the Storm comes out April 13, 2018. I actually called on my youth for this one, loosely basing my Hero on my big brother who was a professional bull rider. I had a lot of fun writing this one and I hope it is a good tribute to him.
If you had to describe your book using only one sentence, what would it be?
Sexy cowboy, city girl on the run, and a lot of bull!
Your character can venture into the world of another story, what book do you choose, and why?
Oh, I'd definitely have him visit the island from my Wet series. Paul and Rhees would get him certified to dive and they'd be diving every day, loving it, and getting along well, I think.
The villain of your story has tea time with two other villains, who are they, and why?
Oh, Dmitry from Peace In The Storm, and Darlene from Poppy's Anthem really deserve to have tea together. I'm sure they'd kill each other within five minutes. I'm not sure who the third one would be. Maybe Creepy from Wet? Though, he'd be dead in two.
If you had any advice for an aspiring author, what would you tell them?
Do it. Don't put it off. 1 out of 4 people I meet tell me they want to write a book. I offer to read it for them and offer pointers once they write the first chapter. They never get to it and that is sad. I put it off for far too long and it is one of my biggest regrets. So ... DO IT!
We're going to ask you to share an excerpt from your book now. What would you like to share?
<-----PEACE IN THE STORM----->
"You shouldn’t be ashamed, Jay. There is nothing wrong with being gay.”
He slammed on the brakes, sending the golf cart skidding to a stop. He turned to face her.
"Gay? I’m not gay.”
“Keep telling yourself that."
He rolled his eyes, wondering how this could be happening.
