Holy guacamole, it's been a while since I've posted on here! You'll have to forgive me for that, everybody. It's been a crazy, long year and a half, and I'm surprised my head is still attached properly.
I'm trying to give some more attention to IABB, as it so rightly deserves. This blog means a great to deal me, and has since the very beginning. The original creator of this blog always had a unique vision for this place, and I hope to continue making that vision a reality.
It is simple, really: make the indie community a wonderful loving place for indie authors, bloggers, and readers. We have of course since extended it to editors, cover designers, and anyone involved with this world we have grown to love so much. I know at times it has been so discouraging. There have been incidents none of us are proud of, and most of them we are too ashamed to even talk about.
How do these things happen here, in this world we have created? Again, it's a simple answer: it only takes one bad apple to ruin the pie, guys. And we've had quite a share of those over the last half decade. But, regardless, IABB still strives to be a safe place where everyone is welcome.
I have many hopes and dreams for this blog, and one of the biggest is becoming a #1 resource for the indie community. It's something I've thought about for a long time, and honestly, I know it's going to happen. But I need your help to do it. What will it take? I haven't the slightest clue, but I just know the light bulb is going to switch on, any day now, and then I will sit back with wide eyes of pure amazement as this blog, with so much heart, explodes into something bigger, better, and awesome.
I am very proud of what has been accomplished with IABB over the past couple of years. I know it just celebrated a birthday, but I'm not sure how old it is. (I'll go back and find out, I promise!) Between #IABBConfessions, the Ultimate Book Blog List, and our slow-grow book forum, We Heart Books, I am amazed at the support that's poured in. We really couldn't do this without y'all, (And Confessions would NOT happen without the graphics team - especially CM Johnson).
I have tons more ideas I can't wait to share with you. It's a learn-as-you-go sort of process, but I am ever so grateful for your willingness to give each new idea a shot. I appreciate it more than you could ever know.
This has mostly been a post of me rambling affectionately. But I really do want you guys to understand how much your presence on the IABB page is appreciated. There was once upon a time our page only had 1 like - and then 5 - and then 100 - and now 7,000! We really, really love you.
We totes love you. (Who still gets that joke?)
Anyway, thanks for reading my ramblings. Hopefully I can start giving a little more attention to blog posts, most of which will be geared towards helpful information and not mushy gushy T thoughts. :)
Before you go, please take a moment to visit We Heart Books, a forum we've been trying to build for a while. It's old school - it outdates Myspace if that says anything. But it's fun once you get the hang of it. We could totally make it an awesome place, but only if y'all are willing.
Also check out our current cover contest if you've got a minute.
That's all for now! Happy reading, happy writing, happy life. <3
