Whew. I feel like this is the first proper breath I've been able to take in nearly two weeks.
As some of you may know by now, I recently started a new job so I haven't had a lot of time to be here in the wonderful indie world. For that, I apologize. BUT, the good news is I'm enjoying my job. I work with some really awesome people and the environment, for the most part, is just fun. I think that means a lot when it comes to having a job. As long as you enjoy what you're doing, you'll be okay. ;)
Okay, so with that out of the way, I just wanted to post an update about everything happening in our little corner of the indie world. Here's what's new, what's been updated, and what you can expect to see over the next few months.
Giftapalooza You've probably seen me mention this more than once. Giftapalooza is an online charity event I started in 2013 and it is 100% based on families in need within the reading community. It was designed to help out the families of readers, authors, and bloggers who may be having a hard time making Christmas happen for their kiddos.
How it works: Basically, after we start receiving applications from families on November 1st, we welcome our 'Santas' to join us at the event where we post info about the children and include links to an Amazon wish list. These wish lists usually have 3-5 items the child would like to have (and probably asked Santa for). When you purchase these items, you are given points. These points can be saved up and then you can use them to get a 'thank-you' gift for being such an awesome person. These thank-you gifts range from ebooks to gift cards, signed paperbacks and audio books. We also get signed prints from models, but I haven't gotten any confirmation on those yet.
In 2015 we gave $4,203 worth of gifts to 43 families. Pretty awesome, right?
We are trying to get a proper domain name before November 1st. You can help us achieve that goal by purchasing any item in our SWAG SHOP.
Are you an author interested in donating a thank-you gift? You can find more information on that by visiting the Giftapalooza website.
We have a new raffle up for another mug. This one is out of this world.
I went through this morning and updated our blog list. Bloggers, you are welcome to submit your information to be added by visiting here.
We are still accepting books to be placed on our website for promotion. Find out more about that by visiting here.
I think that's pretty much all I had for now. If you guys have any questions or comments about anything, feel free to leave them in the comments below.
Happy reading, happy writing, happy living. <3
